Death Beneath the Streets

A Matthew Hogan mystery

Death Beneath the Streets

Within a one week time period, three people die at the hands of a New York Subway killer. The morning after the third death, private investigator Matthew Hogan receives a phone call from a close friend and attorney, Kathy Russell. Kathy, who was a friend of the widow of the last victim, tearfully relates some of the details of his death, or murder. When she is emotionally unable to complete the story, Hogan vows to help find the murderer.

Hogan begins his investigation by researching the personal and professional life of Edward Allenson, the last victim. As he does, he uncovers details about the other two deaths. Although the police call the three deaths unrelated, Hogan’s suspicions continue to escalate. Hogan attacks the mystery as a puzzle, listing the suspects, one of whom is a former lover of his, and then interviewing all of them and others, becoming involved in all three murders, and more, in the process. With Kathy’s help, Hogan makes sense of a suicide, a college newspaper article, and a corporate layoff to identify the killer.

At the end of the book, Hogan explains to Kathy and her close friend whose husband was the third victim the series of events that led to his death. Find out for yourself!
